Adam Scott will not play in Singapore |
SYDNEY (AP) - Adam Scott choose not to defend his Singapore Open title to return home and join a star-studded field in the Australia Open in November.
Scott will join the likes of Tiger Woods, defending champion Geoff Ogilvy, Jason Day, Dustin Johnson, Bubba Watson and Presidents Cup captains Fred Couples and Greg Norman in Los Lagos from November 10.
Scott told Network Ten television on Thursday that it was a difficult decision to resign to defend his title in Singapore, "but the Australia Open is very difficult to pass and I will be playing in Sydney."
Scott won the Australia Open 2009 in New South Wales Golf Club and has his sights on a second title in the event's strongest in years.
"It's the right decision for me and I have really wanted to get down there and win the Australia Open again," he said. "If I win the Australia Open, I'll be very pleased to enter into the Presidents Cup."
