Yaya Toure wants to send a clear message to the Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson on Sunday: The noisy neighbors are getting stronger.
Toure says it is vital for Manchester City beat United in the Community Shield to prove they are serious contenders in the Premier League title.
The star of the midfield and knows what it is to KO Fergie men in Wembley - who scored in the FA Cup semifinal last season, then click the victory against Stoke in the final.
Toure: "If possible it would be great to score the third Wembley like me there, but most important is not to score another goal is the whole team to show our fans and everyone else ... that the city comes. We have to show we are here.
"The league this year will be very difficult and we have to improve a lot, but I think this is the year for us.
"We will have to fight to show people that the city goes all the way to the top. We have to make a statement at the beginning. I think other clubs are beginning to take note of the new City of Manchester."
Toure, 28, is happy with the way the city is progressing up after their first major trophy for 35 years by winning the FA Cup in May and then secured third place in the Premier League.
He is excited about linking with £ 35million new boy Sergio Aguero, who is set to make his bow at Wembley, after arriving from Atletico Madrid.
Touré as former Barcelona striker played against Argentina, while both were in Spain and believes that City fans are in luck.
He added: "The club is signing players and we are getting some good players, it is important to return to his best Edin Dzeko is in good shape and have signed Aguero, so we are getting better and better ..
"Aguero is a fantastic player. He is so smart, so smart. It's very, very fast.
"But if you look through the selection and there is no real quality in all positions - not only in the starting 11, but the bank also."
Toure said last season that the city could be as good as his old club Barca - and he's for it.
