New York, which lost in the largest acquisition in free agency this summer, when All-Pro cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha signed with the Philadelphia Eagles re-signed their first priority, the receiver Santonio Holmes, last week.
Edwards has 326 receptions for 5.142 yards and 39 touchdowns in his seven-year career. In two seasons with the Jets, had 88 receptions for 1.445 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Burress, 34, the former Steelers and Giants catcher who spent 20 months in prison for a weapons offense, has 505 receptions for 7.845 yards and 55 in his career in the NFL. The receiver 6-foot-5 has a turbulent past, including missed meetings, fines, suspension of a party and contract disputes.
