[news] Mets agreed to trade Beltran to the giants

A person familiar with the negotiations said the Mets have agreed to trade Carlos Beltran, San Francisco Giants and is seeking permission from the gardener to complete the operation.

The person, who spoke to The Associated Press on Wednesday on condition of anonymity because the trade had not been completed, says the Mets have contacted the commissioner's office for a 24-hour window to negotiate with Beltran to greet its clause not change.

The slugger All-Star can block any deal, because he is a veteran of 14 years who has spent the last seven seasons in New York, giving him 10-and-5 rights.

The switch-hitting Beltran leads the NL with 30 doubles and batted .289 with 15 homers and 66.
