[news] Jets, Mark Brunell is a part (for now), first announced open practices

It's been a busy day so far by the Jets, even without a final decision of CB Nnamdi Asomugha.

It was officially launched backup quarterback Mark Brunell, CB Billingsley G will and Marlon Davis. Billingsley and Davis were signed in January to reserve contracts and / or future.

Brunell is more important release, although a league source said it will back to a lower price. The Jets are doing their best to fit under the cap Asomugha and work on a long term agreement with LB David Harris [now it is their right to vote-tag player].

Furthermore, according to a source, QB Kevin O'Connell has been released. He missed all of last season due to a shoulder injury. With Kellen Clemens O'Connell [an agreement with the Redskins] has gone, the Jets seem ready to go with a seventh-round draft pick, Greg McElroy of Alabama as the third quarterback. Both he and fellow seventh-round pick, WR Scotty McKnight of Colorado, signed today by a source.

Finally, the Jets announced three open practices. The first two practices open to fans at Atlantic Health Center in Florham Park will be Tuesday and Wednesday, both at 2:15 pm Other times and dates are TBA. The Jets also practice at Hofstra, his former home, August 25 at 6 pm

Report data for the players is Sunday and the first practice, closed to the public, will be on Monday.
