CB Nnamdi Asomugha was a Pro Bowler his last three seasons in Oakland. |
After rampant speculation Friday that all pro-CB Nnamdi Asomugha had winnowed the list of new entrepreneurs in the NFL New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys, a third team intercepted him.
Philadelphia Eagles swooped to sign Asomugha to a five-year contract after the free agent market officially opened at 6 pm ET Friday pm.
The news came as a great view of the acquisition of the Eagles Pro Bowl CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on Friday as part of the agreement of Kevin Kolb.
Asomugha also turned 30 this month, and the elimination of traditionally Eagles players ability at that age instead of granting long-term pacts. But it is indicative of the talent he is, a Pro Bowler in the last three years and first team All-Pro twice in that period. Santana Moss, Hakeem Nicks, Dez Bryant and Miles Austin is not likely to be happy at all about the transition Asomugha in the NFC East.
He was recently named the 18 best by their peers at the NFL Network in the top 100 players in 2011, the Jets Darrelle Revis, who many thought he was about to be his teammate Asomugha this week, was the only corner ranked higher in the no. 8.
